Amy is a qualified jewellery tutor and maker who is currently completing a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education). She has been teaching and making jewellery since she graduated with a BA (Hons) Designed Metalwork and Jewellery degree in 2001.
Having completed a metalwork degree her first love is working with metal but in 2005 Amy discovered the world of Precious Metal Clay. This new material gave her the opportunity to create pieces she could not in metal and open up a new way of working. Her most recent introduction is to glass. Amy uses lamp working and fusing techniques to create individual glass components that can be added to her familiar precious metals.
Amy has a friendly, active approach to teaching that makes her workshops enjoyable, full of information and accessible to both the beginner and improver jewellery maker. Although structure is in place the participants have the freedom to design and make their own pieces and explore their own creativity.
In 2006 Amy opened The Oxford Bead Shop where she works alongside an enthusiastic team that keeps the shop full of inspirational materials, ideas and workshops.
